Our founders, Sarah Klages and Ben Parvis, started brainstorming the idea for Pickled and Preserved in summer of 2015 and it didn't take us long to decide to roll the dice! New to the Burien community we were eager to be a part of the growth and development we saw happening in this historic suburb and hoped to do our part to keep Burien authentic and local. Sarah has 5 years of experience working with local farmers and producers in Western Washington and one of the primary hurdles for small scale producers is finding dependable outlets to sell their products and gain exposure to their clientel.
With Pickled and Preserved we hope to supply that exposure and introduce a varitey of local products to Burien residents. We are luckier than we know in the Pacific North West and the array and quality of locally produced foods and beverages is astonishing! We know very well that we can only hope to scratch the surface of what our region has to offer, and we make it our goal to continue to seek out and develop partnerships with as many local vendors and producers as we can to bring our customers the most complete and unique variety of products possible!
